ENGL 2327 - American Literature I

Walt Whitman

English 2327 is designed to serve as an introduction to American Literature from the Colonial Period through the Romantic Period. Read the work of famous Colonial era Americans such as Ben Franklin, Thomas Paine, and Thomas Jefferson; Read about The Enlightenment, the Scientific Revolution, and Slavery. Read the work of notable abolitionists such as Frederick Douglass, Harriet Jacobs, and Harriet Beecher Stowe; and women's rights advocates such as Anne Bradstreet and Elizabeth Cady Stanton. Read the work of infamous Romatic era writers such as Edgar Allan Poe, Nathaniel Hawthorne, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Henry David Thoreau, and the great Walt Whitman.
